Maintenance Headquarters
This page provides an overview of ICC maintenance structure including house responsibilities, sources of funding, and the Facilities Committee. There are also explanations of ICC maintenance policies and links to other resources for house Maintenance Officers or any other members looking for maintenance help. How ICC handles maintenance
Each ICC house is responsible for routine maintenance and general upkeep of the house. The house Maintenance Officer, elected each semester, holds primary responsible for helping members perform these minor maintenance tasks. If you need something fixed please check with your house's Maintenance Officer first.
If your Maintenance Officer can't fix it, (s)he'll request help from the ICC Facilities Administrator by submitting a Maintenance Request Form. You may also submit a maintenance request directly for serious or reoccurring maintenance issues that cannot be solved on the house level. Before submitting a Maintenance Request, please review the specific list of house maintenance responsibilities listed in the facilities section in Standing Rules.
Source of Maintenance Funds
Every year the Facilities Administrator budgets money for specific improvements to the houses based on priority of need and amount of funds available. This budget is then approved by the Board each year. See Facilities Budget.
Houses pay for minor maintenance with their house funds, from their Checking or Savings account, as they see fit.
Larger projects can be funded with a grant from Facilities Committee. These grants are paid out of the Facilities Discretionary fund, a portion of the ICC budget that aims to motivate members to perform home improvement projects by providing adequate money. Contact the Facilities Coordinator for more details.
Facilities Committee
FacCom is made up of all the house maintenance officers, some board representatives and the ICC-wide Facilities Coordinator. The committee usually meets once a month so that members share information and resources to help them do their jobs better. FacCom also reviews and approve requests from houses for maintenance fund grants and sets new maintenance policies. Contact the Facilities Coordinator for more information.

Maintenance Policies
- For current Room Painting Policy and Tool Policy please see the Facilities section of the Standing Rules.
- Electronic locks: Information on how to program or change your house locks.
- Fire Extinguishers: A house is fined $50 if a fire extinguisher is discharged for any reason other than to put out a fire. If a discharged fire extinguisher is not reported to the office there is an additional $50 fine.
- Drains: Houses are responsible for fixing any stopped up drains themselves (unless caused by tree roots growing into the underground pipes, in which case ICC will pay to fix the problem). The reason for this is that houses have 100% control over preventing clogged drains, by using strainers. If the house clogs its drains, then the house is responsible for getting it fixed. ICC has placed screens in most drains throughout ICC.
